We planned to leave for Quepos around 6 am to get a head start with the traffic and to meet up with Clark's family in Alajuela near the airport (where they stayed) but we didn't manage our time well. It took a while to pick up my parents, their luggage and car from the ranch. Clark's family texted at 6:30 saying that they were headed out of San Jose because his mom hadn't reset her phone clock, and they woke up at 5:30 thinking it was 6:30. We got a good laugh out of that. We ended up rendezvousing at Orotina, which is the last town before the line of fruit stands on the way to Puntarenas.
After stopping at the fruit stand to let the newcomers pick out some fruits to try, we continued on to Tiercoles, the crocodile bridge. Everyone enjoyed watching the crocs for a bit and we continued on our way, stopping for lunch in Parrita, where we refreshed ourselves with a classic casado lunch.
Near Quepos, there are miles of these palm tree farms. We could see trucks passing with loads of whatever was growing in the trees. Clark did a little research to discover there a few different "fruits" that grow on palm trees: figs, palm, and coco. These were for palm.
It was still a little early to check in to our rooms so we headed to Espadilla Beach. It was HOT but we had the good fortune to spot some wildlife right away! Some people pointed out this sloth to us, we saw a toucan, AND a capuchin monkey was hanging out nearby.

We checked into our rooms and settled in then chose a place for dinner. We went to a popular seaside restaurant on the bluff over the ocean called Emilios. Above is seabass ceviche with passionfruit.
