Puerto Viejo Day 3: Ride to Manzanillo

One popular activity to do in Puerto Viejo is bike ride south down the coast. There are several beaches to stop and view.  We only stopped at two: Playa Cocles and Playa Manzanillo (end of the road). I think the ride is about 15 kilometers. It was mostly flat. We had to ride up and down two major hills. We left Puerto Viejo in the morning, ate lunch at Manzanillo around 2 pm and arrived back to Puerto Viejo by 5. We made one more stop on the way back for some ice cream.

Manzanillo wasn't good for Clark. He felt like the place wasn't safe for us. There wasn't much commercialism there, only a couple main sodas (restaurants) that literally shared a wall and a few hostel looking accommodations. The residents were mostly of Caribbean descent. There were some sketchy vagrant-looking men hanging around the beach area across from the sodas and Clark overheard a couple guys talking trash about the USA. It just didn't have a friendly vibe, so we ate and ran.

I think this is near Puerto Viejo, looking through the trees as we rode by.

Playa Cocles

There was a slackline Clark wanted to try.

Zoom in to see the rest of the gang by the sign. This was our way to get everyone in the selfie with the sign.

Artsy picture of the wrecked ship nearby.

My version of the ship.

Dinner: Clark fried up the red snapper from his deep-sea fishing at Quepos. This was delicious fish. It was almost like eating chicken. Wish we'd cooked it in Quepos so everyone could have tasted some.
