Excursion #11: Introducing Puerto Viejo

There were a few options we considered to transfer from Coronado to Puerto Viejo. The two towns are about a 4-hour drive apart and we had returned the car we leased to the rightful owner. I finally settled on a private transport. This was essentially a mini-bus, and we took up every bit of space. Our driver lives in Puerto Viejo so to collect us by 8 am he had left PV around 4. Typical Tico to be on the road at such an early hour. Haha!!

We put down several seats to fit everything and everyone.

Why did the iguana cross the road?

This guy literally stopped two lanes of traffic, including the city bus to the left. A lady in a car behind us went out to chase the iguana back into the bushes.

Our first look at the Caribbean Ocean.

Playa Negra: Welcome to Puerto Viejo

Lunch Caribbean style

A pipe we saw at the vendor tents.

Hot dogs!

Only during the day...as I will explain later...

A map of the coastline and beaches of the region.

The beach right in town.

There were these encouraging signs posted all around town.

Instead of regular taxis, they have these 3-wheel buggies.

Where do you want to go today?

More beach!

Granazado! Yum. I can't wait to share this with my friends in the USA!

Dinner our first night

It's a pizza cone and it was delicious.

For me to remember

It's not a complete visit without a picture of a neighborhood cat.

Our ride in a taxi buggy.
