Flora y Fauna Part 1 (Monteverde)

This post is just for pictures of the many beautiful varieties of vegetation we saw in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Of course, I just captured the ones that caught my eye at the time. I will predict one could go hike the trails several times and always find new specimens.

I am separating the flora and fauna posts because some readers find plants interesting, others not so much. I pay attention partly because I find beauty in them and partly because I was taught to appreciate and be aware of all the varieties by my mother (a florist) and my maternal grandmother (a botanist and master gardener). A few pictures have captions. Maybe some of these will bring you joy too!

Bird of Paradise

I love the umbrella looking plant.

Vines crawl everywhere in the forest.

An interesting lichen on the edge of the path.

Moss

Some plants are symbiotic and grow with their root balls exposed on the sides of trees.

Looking down on the canopy from the suspension bridge...the top of a tree fern provides new perspective.

Sprouting fern.

The way this one curls back its petals from the center to open reminds me of lips.

Creepy crawler

Zoom in to appreciate the detail of individual roots.

A variety of palm fern with a spore coming out the middle?

Wild berry Rosabel spotted.

This fern is very delicate with small leaves.

A seed of some kind?
